San Francisco-based, Denver-raised, Mikayla Jazmyn (they/she) is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, blending the rich tradition of jazz and blues with the modern influences of alternative indie and neo soul.
For them, music is less of an end goal, and more of a transformative process that seeks to connect with the divinity of the human spirit through creative expression. Drawing inspiration from avant-garde currents like Erykah Badu, Hiatus Kaiyote, and Esperanza Spaulding, and rooted in the likes of iconic musicians like Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaugh, they seek to add a bit of their own magic to styles pioneered by these songstresses.
Ultimately, they view song as a powerful tool for social change and upliftment, vowing to never stop creating music, both in solitude and collaboration.
